Family Medicine CME Requirements
- 150 Category 1 CME hours every 3 years
- 50 SAM Points every 3 years
By the end of year 10
- 1 ABFM MC-FP Examination
At a Glance
The American Board of Family Medicine requires that 150 hours of Category 1 CME hours every 3 years, starting with Physicians last certified 2011 and beyond. CME can be accumulated on an ongoing basis during each 3 year stage in the continuous MC-FP process. CME credits must be submitted/verified by the 3 year stage deadlines.
Physicians last certified 2003-2010 will be required to submit 300 hours of acceptable CME accumulated during the six (6) calendar years prior to the examination year. CME credits must be submitted/verified by the published deadline for completing all application components
Chronic Kidney Disease - $39
Earn 2 hours of Chronic Kidney Disease specific CME hours while also earning 2 ABIM approved MOC points.
Arthritis - $39
Earn 2 hours of Arthritis specific CME while earning ABIM MOC points.
Earn up to 40 Category 1 CME Credits while reviewing for the MC-FP Recertification exam. This activity is also approved for AAFP Prescribed Credit for 2016 and 2017, making this question bank a strong resource for exam prep, MOC, and CME all-in-one.
End of Life Care CME - $39
Complete up to 2 hours of End of Life Care CME by working through questions specific to the field.
Appendix - $39
Earn one hour of Appendix specific CME by going through questions, answers and explanations.
Gallbladder CME - $39
Complete 2 Gallbladder CME hours while also earning 2 ABIM Approved MOC points.
Geriatric Medicine CME - $79
Complete up to 5 hours of Geriatric Medicine specific CME by answering multiple choice questions.
Obesity and Diabetes - $39
Complete up to 25 hours of Obesity and Diabetes Specific CME. This activity is eligible for Category 1 CME as well as ABIM MOC points.
Thoracic Radiology - $79
Earn up to 2 hours of Thoracic Radiology CME.
Hepatitis C CME - $39
Complete up to 2 hours of Hepatitis C specific CME
Palliative Care CME - $39
Earn up to 2 hours Palliative Care specific CME by completing a brief assessment.
