The American Board of Addiction Medicine requires 9 Self-Assessment modules every year from a pool of ABAM selected articles that will count towards the 26 CME requirement. In addition, 9 AMA PRA Category 1 ABAM-approved credits must be completed in the addiction medicine every year. 8 AMA PRA Category 1 credits can be self-reported, as long as they contain addiction components. Diplomates can earn additional CME by completing more than 9 SAMs.
