Echocardiography & Michigan CME Requirements

  • National Board of Echocardiography

      • At a Glance

      • 400 2-Dimensional Echo/Doppler studies per year in 2 of the previous 3 years
      • 50 Transesophageal echocardiograms per year in 2 of the previous 3 years (transesophageal recertification only)
      • 100 Stress echocardiograms per year for 2 of the previous 3 years (Stress Echocardiography recertification only)
      • 15 AMA Category 1 Credits (specific to Echocardiography) in the 3 years preceding application for recertification

      The National Board of Echocardiography requires 15 AMA Category 1 hours during the 3 years preceding application for recertification.

  • Michigan Board of Medicine

      • At a Glance

        150 total hours every 3 years

      • 75 Category 1 CME.
      • 1 Medical Ethics CME.
      • 3 Pain and Symptom Management CME.

      The Michigan Board of Medicine requires 150 CME hours every three years, of which a minimum of 75 must be Category 1 CME. Additionally, a minimum of 1 hour of of CME must be earned in the area of Medical Ethics. Effective Dec. 6, 2017, a minimum of 3 hours of CME must be earned in the area of Pain and Symptom Management.

      • 60 Category 1 CME.
      • 3 Pain and Symptom Management CME.

      The Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and  Surgery requires 150 CME hours every three years, of which 60 hours must be osteopathic related courses or programs designated as Category 1 or Category 3. Effective Dec. 20th, 2017, a minimum of 3 hours of CME will be required in the area of Pain and Symptom Management.
