Information about the Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) board certification exam

The AANC offers a Psychiatric–Mental Health Practitioner board certification exam that provides an assessment of the entry-level clinical knowledge and skills of nurse practitioners. Candidates who complete the eligibility requirements to take the exam and successfully pass the exam are awarded the credential of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified (PMHNP-BC).

How long is the PMHNP Board Certification Exam?

The exam is 200 questions, but 25 of the questions won’t be scored for or against you. These extra questions are used for psychometric analysis, and can sometimes be pretty esoteric.
