The American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation requires 150 Category 1 credits every 5 years, of which a minimum of 50% must relate to the physician's specialty or subspecialty.
Physician's with time-limited certificates issued before 2012 must complete 300 credits by the end of the year 10.

2 hours of controlled substance prescribing practices, treatment of chronic pain, or other topics relating to controlled substances.
1 hour must be on the Delaware Law pertaining to prescribing and distribution of controlled substances. (Within the first year of registration).
The Delaware Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline requires that a physician must be prepared to supply the Board with proof that he has completed forty (40) hours per registration period of continuing medical education in Category I courses approved by the American Medical Association (AMA) or equivalent courses approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) since the time of the physician's last renewal of his registration. 2 hours must be on controlled substance prescribing practices, treatment of chronic pain, or other topics relating to controlled substances, and 1 hour must be on the Delaware Law pertaining to prescribing and distribution of controlled substances, within the first year of registration.
