The American Board of Otolaryngology requires 25 AMA Category 1 CME credits every year. Of these hours, a minimum of 60% must be on the subject of Otolaryngology. Learners must complete a computer based exam in the last three years of each 10-year recertification cycle. Learners must also complete Improvement in Medical Practice Activities including a patient survey, a peer survey, and participate in a registry that will be the basis for quality improvement activities.Source

Beginning July 1, 2019, each physician or osteopathic physician renewing their controlled substances registration will need to have completed two (2) hours of continuing education in the topic of opioid prescribing and opioid abuse.Source
