The American Board of Pediatrics requires 40 self assessment points, 40 Quality Improvement points, and an additional 20 points in either SA or QI, every 5 years. Beginning in 2019, there are two ways to comply with the Part 3 requirement: 1) MOCA-Peds, an innovative continuous assessment approach that delivers 20 questions electronically each quarter, OR 2) Traditional proctored examination at a secure testing facility. Also beginning in 2019, Part 3 will align with your five-year MOC cycle.

The Vermont Board of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons requires 30 CME hours every two years, with a minimum of 12 applied to osteopathic medical education.

Vermont Board of Medical Practice

At a Glance

30 total hours every 2 years

30 AMA PRA Category 1.
2 Safe and Effective Prescribing of Controlled Substances (Only physicians that prescribe substances).
1 Hospice, Palliative Care, or Pain Management.

Every two years, the Vermont Board of Medical Practice requires 30 AMA PRA Category 1 hours. Of these hours, 1 must be in hospice, palliative care, or pain management. Due to the passage of Act 173, beginning with license renewals due Nov. 2018, all physicians with a DEA number, pending application for a DEA number, or who dispense controlled substances will be required to show they have completed a total of at least 2 hours over the course of the previous 2-year licensing cycle - rather than the current one hour - of continuing education on the topic of prescribing controlled substances.
