The American Board of Ophthalmology requires 250 AMA PRA Category 1 credits every 10 years. For certificates expiring on or before 12/31/2020, 25 hours must be completed each year. For certificates expiring on 12/13/2021 or later, an average of 25 hours over the 10 year period is sufficient. Of these hours, a minimum of 200 must be on the subject of Ophthalmology. 3 hours of CME on safe opioid prescribing practices every 3 years
60 Category 1 CME.

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation requires 150 CME credits over a 3 year renewal period. A minimum of 40% (60 hours) of the required CME hours shall be obtained in formal CME programs. (The entire 150 hour requirement may be completed in Category 1). A maximum of 60% (90 hours) of the required CME hours may be obtained in informal CME programs or activities. 3 hours must be on safe opioid prescribing practices.
