      The American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery requires 90 Category 1 CME hours every 5 years. Of these hours, a minimum of 50 must be self-assessment activities (with a score of 75% or higher). Quarterly (four times a year), a CertLink exam must be passed. An annual CertLink fee is due beginning in year 2.
      The ABCRS requires ongoing participation in local, regional or national outcomes registry or quality assessment programs.

      • Maximum of 80 Category 2 Credits.
      • Maximum of 80 Category 3 Credits.
      • Maximum of 80 Category 4 Credits.

      The Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission requires 200 Category 1 CME hours every 4 years. Of these, a maximum of 80 hours may be Category 2, a maximum of 80 may be earned for serving as an instructor of medical students (Category 3, and a maximum of 80 may be earned through papers, publications, books, or exhibits (Category 4). The commission will also accept certification or recertification by a specialty board as the equivalent of two hundred hours of continuing medical education.
