40 Self Assessment points
40 Quality Improvement points
Additional 20 SA and/or QI points
MOC Exam or 20 MOCA-Peds questions per quarter.

The American Board of Pediatrics requires 40 self assessment points, 40 Quality Improvement points, and an additional 20 points in either SA or QI, every 5 years. Beginning in 2019, there are two ways to comply with the Part 3 requirement: 1) MOCA-Peds, an innovative continuous assessment approach that delivers 20 questions electronically each quarter, OR 2) Traditional proctored examination at a secure testing facility. Also beginning in 2019, Part 3 will align with your five-year MOC cycle.

3 Credits in Opioid Education and Pain Management if the physician prescribes controlled substances CME

2 Credits Per Chapter for Reading the Board’s Regs, 243 CMR 1.00-3.00
50 hours of either Category I or Category II CME
3 hours of pain management CME credits

The Massachusetts Board of Medicine requires that physicians complete 50 CME credits every 2 years. Included in these 50 credits must be 2 Credits in End of Life Care Issues, 3 Credits in Opioid Education and Pain Management if the physician prescribes controlled substances, 10 Credits in Risk Management, 3 Credits in Electronic Health Records, 2 Credits Per Chapter for Reading the Board’s Regs, 243 CMR 1.00-3.00
