The American Board of Ophthalmology requires 250 AMA PRA Category 1 credits every 10 years. For certificates expiring on or before 12/31/2020, 25 hours must be completed each year. For certificates expiring on 12/13/2021 or later, an average of 25 hours over the 10 year period is sufficient. Of these hours, a minimum of 200 must be on the subject of Ophthalmology. South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners

40 AMA or AOA Category 1 CME.
30 Practice-Relevant CME.
2 CME Credits of Prescribing and Monitoring Controlled Substances.

The South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners requires 40 AMA, AOA, or other board-approved organization Category 1 hours. Of these hours, a minimum of 30 must be on a subject directly related to the licensee's practice area, and a minimum of 2 hours must be on the subject of approved procedures of prescribing and monitoring controlled substances.
